Michael Carberry aims to take England chance
M. Carberry is aiming to prove he is a capable replacement for the absent England captain A. Strauss ahead of the the two-Test series in Bangladesh (England 1/6, Bangladesh 10/1, draw 6/1 Series Outright).

Andrew Strauss opted to miss the trip to avoid fatigue ahead of a hectic schedule this year and the England selectors decided to give Carberry the chance to cover for him in the top order.
The Hampshire batsman would almost certainly not have travelled had Strauss decided to play, but he is not worried about that as he is set to feature in Sunday’s three-day warm-up against Bangladesh A.
“Straussy’s got something like 5,500 Test runs and 17 centuries so, yes, those are pretty big shoes to fill,” said Carberry (5/1 Top England Series Batsman).
“But he is not here, he’s having a break. I’m just trying to focus on what I need to do and not to get caught up in the hype around whether I should be here or not.

“I just need to get on with the job in hand which is going out there, building a partnership with Alastair Cook at the top of the order and setting a foundation for the other batsmen.”
