Thursday Wolverhampton Placepot

Wolverhampton stages the only racing action in Britain on Thursday with a seven-race card set to keep punters occupied whilst racing on turf remains in the deep freeze. The action gets under way at 225 and the advance going is ‘Standard’.

Race 1 (Wolverhampton 225) – Neil Mulholland’s Belief has been knocking on the door of late and is set to go well again, but we also suggest including Flying Applause on whom Charles Eddery would be one of the best apprentice riders in the field.

Race 2 (Wolverhampton 300) – Drive Home won well over C&D last time and off a 5lb higher mark should still prove competitive. Also included is Powerful Pierre who wasn’t beaten far at the track recently.

Race 3 (Wolverhampton 330) – In a poor claimer, we take a chance that Crowning Star and Clean Bowled will prove capable of at least running into the first two places in this five-runner affair.

Race 4 (Wolverhampton 405) – Fastnet Storm almost certainly needed the run last time after a break and should strip much fitter today. Together with Knowe Head, he is taken to see us through to the penultimate leg.

Race 5 (Wolverhampton 435) – Al Freej should be hard to beat in this five-runner maiden contest having run well on both starts so far. We rate Roger Varian’s charge a banker selection.

Race 6 (Wolverhampton 510) – There is no certainty that Abi Scarlett will prove as effective on Polytrack as she was when winning at Southwell recently, but she should go well on her handicap bow. We also include Gabrial’s Bounty in this trappy final leg of the Placepot.

Suggested Wolverhampton Placepot perm – 2×2×2×2×2×1×2 = 32 bets
