The second half of the Bundesliga season could be a real rollercoaster ride as it appears that four teams are firmly in the title mix and in the sort of form which will keep them going until the death.

Bayern Munich lead the way after beating Wolfsburg 2-0 at the Allianz Arena, but there is still a three-way tie at the top as Dortmund and Schalke are also on 40 points.

The champions scored an easy 3-1 home win over Hoffenheim last weekend and are now unbeaten in 13 league matches, while Schalke reeled off their fifth straight victory with a resounding 4-1 success at Cologne.

The fourth members of the impressive quartet are Borussia Monchengladbach, who followed up their stunning win over Bayern with an equally commendable 3-0 triumph at Stuttgart – their third in a row overall.

Next up for Bayern is a trip to Hamburg – who were recently thrashed 5-1 by Dortmund on their own patch – while Schalke welcome Mainz, Gladbach head to Wolfsburg and Jurgen Klopp’s men make the trip to Nuremberg for the Friday night fixture.

There were also two key relegation battles last weekend as the members of the bottom four faced each other, with Mainz leaping up to midtable with a 3-1 success over Freiburg and Augsburg and Kaiserslautern drawing 2-2.

The latter three remain entrenched in the relegation zone but Freiburg and Kaiserslautern now have home games against Werder Bremen and Cologne respectively on Sunday, 24 hours after Augsburg head to Hoffenheim.
