According to eGaming Review, Bwin has beaten competitors including large players Party Gaming and Betfair to become the number one operator in eGaming’s Power 50 leading operators.
This year, new entrant Magas Gaming and a revived William Hill also hit the top ten this year. However Bwin topped the bill after its rise in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of 40% at half year point.
This may be due to its football sponsorships of the Spanish Primera and Segunda leagues and their constant fight against EU monopolies. This allowed the Austrian company to head off PartyGaming who came in second place despite buying out Cashcade and settlements with US authorities.
Jim Ryan of Party Gaming has recently confirmed that it’s a key objective to continue the progress made this year to be involved with a sports betting operator with a complementary market presence.
Betfair also showed strong financial results with a surge of almost 30% in EBITDA. Bet365 climbed a further two places on the basis that its turnover will nearly double in 2009 as it’s in running platform is seen to be one of the leaders in the industry.
William Hill’s rise is sparked by last year’s Playtech deal which has seen it rise 9 places in comparison to last year. This is in contrast to Ladbrokes who have fallen to 6th place after weak midyear financial stats.
Mangas has entered the Power 50 for the first time replacing sporting bet at 7th place. The company now is focusing on its poker offering and it has been rumoured that they’re talking with Everest Poker.
Bookmakers Paddy Power and Unibet remained in 8th and 9th place respectively.
